I was a witness to exactly that kind of an incident a few years ago... as the cyclist is being loaded into the ambulance (she was going to be ok... pretty banged up, though) the driver was swearing that she was driving safely and carefully, and that the cyclist was riding illegally on the sidewalk and tried to race past as she was making the turn.
The cyclist was actually in the road where she belonged, the driver buzzed me, then went half-way past the other cyclist before hanging a hard right with no signal.
How would the news article read if I hadn't been 30 or so feet behind the other cyclist and able to provide an eyewitness report?
