University of Michigan has a pretty strong core group. Used to ride with the Varsity team on the weekend when My Ex went there. Nice guys. Sweet bike stores around the area too, ann arbor is great. Check them out. Oh yeah, THere are some sweet rides too.
Central Michigan has a pretty good Club team and there are bikes every where.
And then obviously California, Stanford(Im partial to this place, I used to help at thier swim camps) UCLA, UofC all pretty much surrounded by excellent cycling areas.
