ok.
Lets assume i can spend up to $1000.00 US. (dont want to , but if i have to, I will).
Lets also assume i prefer a battery powered system.

I understand the importance of "being seen" and have enough reflective tape, blinkies (blackburn flea is a fav!)and other geegaws to make my ride look like a roman candle to oncoming traffic, if need be.

But this is not the point.
I also wish to see.
Mostly, i want to see the turns i must take to follow my cue sheet. i'd also like to see the general condition of the road in front of me to avoid pot holes, debris, small animals, etc.
I understand that all lumens are not created equal, so to speak......but its the only thing the manufactures give me to work with.

So,
What do you all use or recommend for brevets that go far into the night. How bright is adequate?
How bright is comfortable?
How bright is too bright? (is there such a thing?)

inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks,
Cyril
