IMO, there is no reason to buy an entry-level Trek. If you wanted a Madone or something, that's cool, but entry Treks are bleh and pricey. I don't see anything in the specs to warrant a higher price except the Trek name.
To defend Jamis' honor, I owned a Jamis Quest before and it was a great bike.
