directional tread vs. flip flop hub

Ok, so I just got some knobbly tires (Schwalbe CX Comp) for my Rob Roy. These particular tires have a directional tread.
I also just bought a freewheel to go on the other side of my hub.
Hence, the dilemma.

Clearly, the act of removing and reinstalling the tire every time I flop defeats the convenience of having a flip/flop hub, so that is not an option.
This bike is going to be ridden on the road more than it is taken offroad, which makes me want to install the tire set up for fixed. However, the tread is likely much more important offroad, which makes me want to install the tire set up for free.

So what should I do? What do you do? Does it even matter?
