I expect that a 17" MBP would fit in a Ranchero, but you'd be best getting something with a lot more room for hauling video gear* around. Depending on the size, the Kirov might be what you need.
*When I visualize "video gear" I think of a GL-2 in its case and a tripod, minimum, along with extra DV tapes and the power adapter. Depending on the camera you might need more or less room.
