On an average week, I do 20-30 hours of actual work, and get paid for 50-60 hours (10-20 of which are overtime pay). The starting pay is around $25/hour, but because of the overtime, I’d guess the new guys get 70-80/year. Most people have a four year degree with an electronics related Major, but some squeak by with an associates in electrical engineering, or military tech school and experience.
I get to ride most every day provided I stay in cell range, and I can always get back home to change and grab my toolbox within about an hour if I’m called. I have to save the long rides for days off.
That sounds really awesome, actually. I might have to keep that in mind if the Power Engineer job I have lined up doesn't pan out.
