I'm really confused on the popularity of the b43's. they are a poorly made copy of the h+son rims. They weigh in at an extra 150 grams each. That means the company put no time into actually researching how to make a better deep rim, they just made their already heavy deep v's deeper, and called the extra weight strength.
I have had h+son rims on my aluminum frame for 8 months, ridden up curbs, down curbs, across town on 30 psi, up mountain bike trails, with somebody on my handlebars, do whirly birds. The rims have handled everything I have thrown at them no problem. Perfectly true to this day with no spoke tensioning.
I bet you this rim is or the same quality of the b43's, probably a close weight, and if the hubs are that big a problem, you could buy a set of surely hubs and re-lace the wheels, and still only have paid $200. They sound like a pretty good deal on a cheap set of rims.
