You can get the Defy 3 for about the same money as the Sequoia. Same Sora bits. I have Sora on my OCR 3 and it's adjusted well so the front shifts fine. A well adjusted Sora derailleur will shift much better than a poorly adjusted 105 derailleur. If it's not shifting right, tell them to adjust the cables, then make your decision on the group.
Yes, Sora should not shift any different than Tiagra or 105 for the front derailler.
Triples can shift a bit differently than doubles.
