What type of quill wedge does 80's ITM stems have??
Trying to free up a stuck stem on my new aquisition but I need to knw what type of quill wedge it has. The stem was made by ITM for Vitus to use on their carbon bikes (It has the "Vitus" engraving on it.) I'm wondering if it's the wedge type of quill or the conical type wedge in there, can't get a good veiw of it from the bottom so far, because the cast aluminum fork crown has kind of a small hole (casting flashing in the way?) at the bottom that's keeping me from getting a good view of the bottom of the stem in the steering tube. pounded it a few times last night from the top with no results and have it upsidown soaking in LPS lubricant (Only thing I had handy last night). I can't find any PB blaster today and got me some "liquid wrench" penetrant in the meantime to continue the soaking process. I need to know what type of wedge it is to determine what plan of attack to use on the stuck stem.
TIA!
