Definitely pay attention to the shorts. Look for Cytech Elastic Interface Technology pad, "<>" insignia if you do serious miles. Assos, Campy, Cannondale, Capo, De Marchi, Gore BW use it.

I got one Gore Ozon bibshort, experimentally, then it was so comfy for loong rides, I scooped up some more at ca. $100 on sale. I found an Assos FI.Mille at chainreactioncycle for $196. It even included a washbag, chammy creme and cleanser. I like it, to be sure, but the Ozons are a much better deal. They're both A+ products for anyone who does serious mileage, by which I mean 300-400 mi / week.
