Pendleton closed to cyclists this weekend
I found out the hard way today that Camp Pendleton is closed to cyclists through Monday. I'm guessing by the amount of heavy equipment in the field off in the distance from the old landing strip that they're doing something and they don't want us getting squished.
So it ended up being a turn around affair since I have more brains then to tempt fate and ride on the 5.
Amtrak was also hosed today. We rode all the way back up to San Juan Capistrano and were supposed to catch the 2:15 train back to Anaheim. Yeah right. We never got the full story. First it was a disabled train on single track between San Clemente and SJC. Then it was a car in the crossing somewhere that got hit which backed up everything. At 7:20 this evening I was finally back at my car in the Anaheim parking lot. Rediculous. We weren't comped our train fare, we weren't provided any free snacks once we were able to get on the train at 5:30. And the hour we sat on the tracks at Irvine before being forced to another train was fruitless in getting any kind of compensation for the utter ridiculous waste of time. Next time I'll just ride back.
/rant...sorry
