brake help
So Ive been searching around for brakes for my 70's fuji tourer frame. I started by looking through the forums here first and looked around online and can't seem to find what Im looking for so Im asking here.
First off, my project is turning into more of a frankenbike rather than just a rebuilt vintage. Im just building it to ride around town, commute a couple miles to work and back. Nothing intense, just basic wheels.
That being said I've come across many sets of decently priced brakes. Keeping in mind that I got this bike as a frame only and don't know what the brakes were originally, I've located some center pull style brakes for a decent price and some newer side pull brakes as well. The brakes are for 27" wheels. And my question lies in the newer set that I found. They're Tektro R556 long reach calipers. From what I've been researching it looks like they are long enough and could work, but Im not sure about the allen nut style fasteners for the fork. Can I adapt these calipers to work with my original Fuji fork or will this just lead to a big mess trying to mate them?
I personally think they look much cooler and would prefer the Tektros over older center pull ones, but if its more bother than its worth finding the right length allen style bolts and hardware and they won't work with my fork/frame, I'll just skip it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
