It's just the contact points (butt bones) that hurt, no trouble at all in lower spine. I thought it was just that I was having to re-educate a slightly different contact point.
I was previously happy both on tops and on drops, which stuck me as that the bend forward wasn't an issue.
Anyhow, the seat post has markings. On the ride in question I went from position 8 to position 9 (about a centimetre each). This evening, 8.5. Felt good
