I think that's because it really doesn't end up being the highlight... After all the pain biking 4-5hrs up a mountain, going through a number of climates on your way, getting to the top and looking out upon Maui completely beaten by the climb, the descent is more of a relief that you literally don't have to pedal once the entire way down. Plus after a few hours already on 36 miles of only incline you get pretty sore and and the descent can be more of a pain than something fun.

The highlight of the ride is definitely up, not down.
