1+ Did the ride down with my wife and about 8 others last Feb. We were in Ka'anapali for 8 days and that was one thing I wanted to do. It was about the time I was getting into road biking, and now I would like to try the trip up. No way I'll be doing it in anything like 6.5 hrs. Not at my age.
Another memorable day bike ride that my wife and I did was a 25 mile wine country bike tour of the Russian River Valley in CA. 5 wineries and a gourmet lunch. It was great fun, and all our friends were amazed that we rode 25 miles on a bike. We had hybrids back then. Now I ride 120 miles a week regularly.
Anyway, thanks OP for the great post and pix! It brought back memories, even though we were headed in the opposite direction.
