Yeah, I take your point USAZ, but I have a feeling that the TdT is one of those events where you are gonna be in a paceline at some point whether you want to or not. I think they get like 10,000 people.
There's nothing wrong with the advice, but I'd definitely caution against joining one if someone is at all nervous about it. I rode the Seagull earlier this month, which had over 8,000 participants. There were plenty of pacelines, but still were many folks who weren't in one.
