I remember many years ago that we had to use the freeway during a similar situation and you can get a great pace going but there is so much debris on the side of the freeway.
I have never encountered any more debris on the 5 fwy than I have on regular surface roads. This section of highway is also cleaned by a street sweeper regularly.
