If you have all the tools, it's pretty easy to do. I did everything on mine myself, except re-dishing the rear wheel. I didn't file or rip anything off. It didn't have a derailleur hanger, so it has a clean look at the drop-outs. I could go back to a geared bike, if I ever wanted.
