Just a question on the matt black. Why? I rather like the shininess of a gloss finish. I can put a coat of wax over it and buff it up, and the dirt just drops off. Seems to me that matt has natural pores in it that "cements" dirt to it, and is sensitive to spills of sweat, sunscreen, McD hamburger grease and myriad other things.

Otherwise, I like the idea of "recycling" an old MTB frame into a touring bike. I "traded" an old Apollo MTB (Australian brand) for a crappy lounge suite, and still regret it four years later. The frame was steel, reasonably light, had good chainstay length and was not much different in configuration to the Fuji Touring I now have. It felt good, IIRC.

Should be a robust touring platform for you.
