I am a fixed gear enthusiast myself and love the culture that surounds it.
what culture? people ride bikes. people ride fixed-gear bikes. there is no "fixed-gear culture" unless you count places like sjfixed and pdxfixed.

and if those are the only fixed-gear cultures / communities there are, they're hardly worth mentioning, since pdxfixed for instance just seems like a loose network of people who know each other and ride fixed gears. personally, i don't really have any desire to know anybody from pdxfixed. i just ride my bike with my friends, and i'm pretty sure that's what most everyone else on a "fixie" does as well.

punk is a culture because there are many activities associated with it (more than one). in addition, there's a philosophy surrounding punk, and punk fashion, and punk music.

fixed gear on the other hand is not a culture because it's just people riding bikes. MAYBE messing is a culture but that's shaky too because not a whole lot of messengers ride fixed gears.. most messengers ride regular old road bikes or mountain bikes.

besides, what would making this book do? you'd show a cross-section of different people who ride fixies. why? most of them are not very interesting. nobody would buy the book, nobody would publish the book... it's pointless.

not to mention you want to make money off this whole thing. you really can't expect people to back you when you're just using them to make money.
