This is my current bike: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ROAD-RACING-...item23039386f5

I understand it's a piece of crap, but I wanted at least something to get started on while I save money. I will probably just buy components, wheels, a new frame, etc to upgrade with rather than dropping a lot of money on a new bike. Eventually I'll basically have a new bike, and with all my spare parts, I could basically rebuild the one I am riding now.

Right now my bike weighs 29lbs, which is about 1/5 my total weight...my friend who has been riding for quite a while suggested I look into lighter wheels to reduce some weight, and he claims it will make riding at a higher pace much more manageable.

Given all that information, what should I be looking at, and what type of riding would be best suited for my physical form?
My Jamis has those exact same rims! They are heavier than hell.

For cheap these will be an improvement (came stock on my Felt F75):

For a bit more (I have these and they are noticeable lighter than the CXPs):

As far as your bike....I would ride the heck out of it and not spend too much upgrading it. Save for another bike, but the rims will help out some.
