I think Grant has small feet. I don't care about the stiffness of my shoes, but anyone who has had foot problems like neuromas, or has fairly large feet, does care about how hard the soles of their shoes are, in addition the the platform area of their pedals. They ain't made the pedal big enough to keep my size 13s from molding my foot around the edges of the pedal if my shoe soles are too soft.
