I've adjusted my work hours so I never ride during 'peak' hours anymore (~7-9AM and 4-6PM); the other cyclists are almost as bad as the motorists.
I've studied the crash stats in PDX from ~ 1998 through 2001, and the motorists are definitely at fault in more motorist-adult cyclist crashes than the cyclists are, but it's pretty close (~52-48, IIRC). However, you have to take those stats with a grain of salt, since the cops typically identify with the motorists and not the cyclists, so the percentage of motorist-at-fault crashes could actually be higher.
And of course, motorists almost never get injured in a crash with a cyclist, but the reverse is certainly not true.
