It is far cheaper to train pilots well and send them along with the paying passengers with the warning that everyone they know and love on this earth will be hunted down and murdered in their sleep if they are found responsible for a crash and thus the payout of a half billion dollars to settle a plane load of wrongful death lawsuits. It seems to work. Per mile, air travel is astoundingly safe.

So you are comparing the deaths of 23 people killed worldwide by a product meant to save folks (and maybe wrongly used... ie no seatbelt, in some of those deaths) to the 40,000+ motorists killed in the US alone... and the 700 cyclists killed in the US alone.
Right... so gee, airbags are definitely bad, eh??
