So I went to a "bike friendly town" and got hit...

I went to visit my sister in Loveland, CO, which is a cyclist haven of sorts, and managed to get hit for the first time ever in about 6 years of riding. I was in the bike lane when a very large cube van pulled out into the right lane and then swerved into the bike lane I was in as I was doing about 24mph behind him... I had about a half second to react so I just had enought time to slow down before my chest hit the steel step bumper. Even more ironic than the fact I was in a cyclist's haven, hitting a car for the first time, was the fact the ****er pulled right into Peloton Cycles parking lot to make his delivery. Needless to say I followed him in there and invited him to step out the truck and see how big he was without a diesel to back him up... he didn't accept... but however I just find this horribly funny that in 20 years of living in the Chicago burbs, with 2 years of commuting I was never hit, 4 years in Grand Rapids burbs and I was never hit, and then one week in Loveland, CO and I get nailed.

Did you let the people in the bike store know that their delivery guy hit you? That would have been more leverage than yelling at him.

Yeah, and I'm sure the OP is at fault here too.
