Reward offered for hit-and-run death of cyclist
A $2,500 reward for information in the August 6 hit-and-run accident that killed a Little Rock, USA bicyclist is on offer from a local cycling advocacy group, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Jason Pratt, 29, of Little Rock, was killed as he pedaled to a friend's home, police said.
Police said that no one has come forward as an eyewitness to the accident and have no leads on the make and model of the vehicle that struck Pratt. "Our original call was to investigate a body found near the roadway," said Little Rock police spokesman Sgt. Terry Hastings. "We are determined to catch this individual."
Monty Cole, vice president of Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas, announced the creation of a reward fund, saying the cyclist's death has affected the organization. "His tragic death has saddened and deeply touched the central Arkansas cycling community," Cole said. "Both drivers and cyclists must find ways to share the road."
The organization's Web site, www.bacar.org, has information about bicycle safety. Contact Little Rock police with information at +1 501-371-4636.

Reward For Info On Duck Killer Reaches $14,000

UPDATED: 8:39 am PDT August 18, 2005
The death toll in the duck-killing spree at a Campbell car wash has risen to 11 and the reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer has risen to approximately $14,000, a spokesman for the Delta Queen Car Wash said Wednesday.
In a case that has garnered national attention, an unidentified motorist driving what police believe is a red Acura Integra with personalized license plates drove into the car wash, located at 981 E. Hamilton Ave., at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 5 and began running over the ducks with his car.
The entire incident was captured on videotape and at one point the man is seen getting out of his car and throwing ducks against his front grill.
Delta Queen spokesman Bryan Buell said a total of 11 ducks have died as a result of the incident with the most recent death of an injured duck coming on Tuesday.
A number of people have come forward offering to donate ducks to the car wash but Buell said while those donations are appreciated they are not necessary.
"We still have breeding pairs. We had three babies born last Saturday. By this time next year we'll be back up to our full number of 25 ducks," Buell said. "We really are trying to discourage anybody from giving us ducks."
Police continue to search for the suspect in the case. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Campbell police at (408) 866-2101. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.

But really folks, this fellow that ran over the ducks, he needs to be taken off the streets, because people who can do something like run over those ducks is also a big risk to cyclists. I'm all for getting him locked up before he graduates to cyclists.
And think there is a link between animal abusers and serial killers.
