Two sides to the story... and while the cyclists did themselves no favor by breaking the rear window... what actually did happen? And why doesn't the woman say anything about hitting a cyclist, and where were the police in this issue and why have they not said anything?

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

This is beginning to highlight a problem in the bike to work, live car free or light, reduced consumption, and environmental awareness lifestyle. It comes with an entire political package. If you disagree on a single point then you have no place in the camp and because you are not driving a 2ton light truck a single Km to get a grease burger then you have no place in the other camp.
Like it or not, most people do, to some degree, care what others think. They are just selective about whose opinion they do care about.
Bicycling needs to separate itself from other political causes in order to advance as something that is independent of politics. A person should not need to care about net dragging in the oceans (although, as I person I think everyone should care) to be part of, and accepted as a member of, the bicycling community.
My father rode his bicycle to work everyday and was a staunch conservative (allowing for strong pacifist tenancies as a result of war experiences) and never felt that the two needed to be connected
