Mouthguard While Riding?

Hi All,

I've recently started wearing a mouthguard when I ride, just because having read what they can protect against (concussion being the main thing), I thought it might be a good idea.

I both commute and ride off-road, always wear at least a TSG Evolution helmet and occasionally a Dixon MX full face helmet depending what I'm doing, and I've been wearing the mouthguard recently even with a full face helmet.

Anyone else wear a mouthguard while riding or think it's worth it? It might not immediately sound like a good idea, but it's fairly comfortable to wear, and anything that gives extra protection to me is a good thing. Any thoughts?

Trouble is that when a cager buzzes you and you catch up to them, you try to say "hey, watch it buddy, that was to fricken close!" it comes out as "hehhhh shhhfffafffzzz taaahhhhshhhhffffshhhhhhhzzzz" and they think you're a bite like....

I must admit, I wasn't quite as prepared for such a dramatic level of cynical sarcasm as perhaps I could have been. Congratulations, you've almost impressed me.

Now, if we can return to sensible comments...

When they develop brain dentures, I'll consider not wearing my lid.

My brain is my moneymaker. If it's not yours, feel free not to wear a helmet.

If it works for you....

So, why did YOU reply?

Jurassic Pete. Full of suprises.

If I was the sort of person that regularly copped punches to the mouth on my commute, I'd consider one, until then, I think I'll pass. Besides, a mouthguard would interfere with my ability to talk on the phone and eat tacos whilst riding (not at the same time - that would be silly).

PS. Pete F - Goddam you make me laugh. Keep up the good work.

Which part of "discussion forum" are you struggling with?

Discussion is something you seem to struggle with daily. :)

Nope.

I think "The Education of Pete Clark, Renowned Fragile Whiner" is a more fitting title, if there is a show title is being discussed.

It would be interesting to see Peter Fagerlin "exchange views" with anyone.

I get pretty sick of seeing you pick on people. You are a complete a55hole

If you say so.

Did you forget the topic?

Maybe mouthguards for both the Pete's wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. ;)

LittleBigMan 09-04-07 09:11 PM

I think you're right at home. It's all about the Peter Fagerlin Show.

:)

Hey, I'm just getting started on this b@$tard, mate.

I think mouthguards and helmets may soon be required for reading BFs.

Anything to minimize the effects of head bashing and tongue biting.

So sorry, claiming to commute in a full face helmet with a mouth guard

I actually said I wear a TSG Evolution or full face according to what I'm doing. High speed rides through the woods near me is usually full face, everything else, TSG Evolution.

Nonetheless, thankyou for proving beyond all doubt that your capacity for expressing a simple opinion and leaving it at that is zero. Thankyou, also, for proving what a total waste of time posting on this forum can be. Your attitude is nothing short of pathetic.

Do you adopt that attitude on your commute? I see why you'd need a mouth guard.

The way certain replies so far have been written and you talk abou my attitude? All I asked for are simple opinions, unfortunately it seems certain people don't possess the simple skills required to do that.

My opinion is that you should wear a mouthguard at all times. I think you might need it. Head protection too. In fact, the suit of armour may not be such a bad idea for someone with your "simple skills" and attitude.

I use one DPC. Was it a visit to the dentist after an accident that got you to buy one? That's what did it for me. My teeth have enough problems, the concussion prevention is just a bonus.

I'm thinking muzzles might be more appropriate.
