I do not ride my bike on Fridays. I don't know about other places, but around here (Beaverton, Oregon which is near Protland) people who drive get a bit crazy on Fridays. Just over 5 years ago, I was involved in a traffic accident, my second on a Friday. Since then, I simply do not ride on Friday. If someone is going to hit me, it will not be on a Friday.

Several decades ago I almost met my demise the same way Mr. Witteman did. I was riding with a small group on a very low traffic roadway (8 miles long, generally I would see 10-30 cyclists and 2-4 cars on it). I could hear a heavy vehicle overtaking us, but it was only doing around 45 mph, so my guard was a bit down. As it passed me on my left a hunk of ag equipment on its trailer passed my head on my right. I still have nightmares over that one because I'm sure it was done without malice and was just the result of tired farmworkers doing shoddy work. It just feels so random.
