The bicycle and the thief

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac1ddft5_WQ

"Two thieves on a motor-scooter flew by and snatched a woman's purse on a street in Wenzhou, China. Surveillance video shows a man riding a bicycle. As he was passing by the front of a hotel near where the thievery happened, he stopped, calmly got off his bicycle, picked it up, and then threw it at the thieves. The bicycle hit them, they lost control, and crashed to the ground."

Epic! Although I'm not sure I'd subject my poor bike to that kind of treatment!

Wow, I'm glad you "know" so much about the death penalty when people are murdered the same way in the US.

Well, they execute their citizens for having the audacity to protest, so obiwan is prolly right in his assessment.

Get over it mcon and pluto. - the chinese officialdom is bestial.

Actually the news is praising the cyclist in the video. It also says he rode away after the incident. For your interest, the pedestrian who attacks the downed robbers near the end is the hotel security guard.

Also, the report quote above states that those people are sentenced to death for crimes related to unrest during which over 200 people were killed. It does not say that they are sentenced to death for protesting. It is more likely that they are guilty of murder. Nice combination of biased news writing and poor reading comprehension (sadly prevelant).

China executed company officials responsible for killing kids with bad milk; in the US, Mattel executives received what punishment for spec'ing lead paint on their toys?

I don't really think it matters, since a bit of lead paint isn't going to kill anybody - it's not like it is meant to be eaten either. Kind of apples n oranges.

Great video...I sang "Ku Fu Fighting" at a Karoki bar and was called a racist. LOL on China only executing murderers, as if Tianmin Square never happened!

Well, maybe not everything. But for a lot of things. You can check out the Amnesty International Death Penalty Report for 2008. They make us look like we're just playing at it.

The summary is:

In 2008, at least 2,390 people were known to have been executed in 25 countries and is
estimated that at least 8864 people were sentenced to death in 52 countries around the
world.
The following countries carried out executions in 2008: China (at least 1,718), Iran (at least
346), Saudi Arabia (at least 102), USA (37), Pakistan (at least 36), Iraq (at least 34),
Viet Nam (at least 19), Afghanistan (at least 17), North Korea (at least 15), Japan (15),
Yemen (at least 13), Indonesia (10), Libya (at least 8), Bangladesh (5), Belarus (4), Egypt
(at least 2), Malaysia (at least 1), Mongolia (at least 1), Sudan (at least 1), Syria (at least 1),
United Arab Emirates (at least 1), Bahrain (1), Botswana (1), Singapore (at least 1) and
St Kitts and Nevis (1).

If he was riding a typical Chinese bicycle I'll bet the thieves suffered the worst of the damage.

I'm not sure that's the 'bike throw' the racers say you're supposed to practice.
