Expound on that.

I understand, I had a situation the other day where I lost my cool. I was the first one at an intersection/tied with a car. I allowed that car to proceed before I made my left turn. Damned if the next car in line behind the first car didn't jump the gun and didn't allow me to make my turn.

As soon as she made her turn I just threw up my arms and yelled out a "what am I invisible?" At her, sadly she had her windows up so I'm pretty sure she didn't hear anything.

Ride your bicycle and keep the mouth zipped. Got it? Life is too short to stick your nose in people's business. Even those two posters who diplomatically agreed with you wouldn't tolerate your dispensation of re-education in the real world. You're in for a surprise if you go around telling people how they're wrong - the only justice that will end up being done is street justice and that isn't the sort anybody wants.

I don't see how lecturing people on-line is likely to be any more effective than anywhere else. Let's keep it civil, please

I think the key phrase here is 'they don't want to hear it'. Don't give it, if you want a fight join a boxing club, that way you get to wear gloves and a mouthguard.

It is not that they don't want to hear it, they don't wish to be told they need to be accountable for their actions, big difference.

The reason I said to expound on it, was because at one point you said "nevermind". Even though you did continue, I wondered if there still was an element of reservation. on your part. Causing you not to say every thing you were thinking at that particular moment, regarding the subject matter.

It depends on how one dispenses the info. Also if one has the time at that moment to dispense the info.

Ever so slightly, only because the right words and phrases aren't in my head at the moment.

It is in what I already posted, just not the right phrase for everyone to get it. The major point is no matter the laws and feelings, the better we police ourselves the better we can focus on real problems, not drivers *****ing about us for legit reasons.

Again, It depends on how the info is dispensed, and if one actually has the time to dispense the info.

I will figure this '*****ing' out in due time, no rush. I do agree about cyclists behaving like the behavior they want from motorists.

I also tried politely to educate a certain local cyclist you may know, about his faults and it turned out as expected.

Shame on me for hoodwinking myself.

people don't like to be told they are doing something wrong. Makes no sense, but it's a delicate situation -- even if you are trying to save their life.

Correct, They don't like to be told they are doing something wrong. But if the message is conveyed in a positive way, the message will be received better.

Correct, so how do you say "Hey guys, I think a few of you might really be doing something that is not good for us."

Good question, Because of it not being the whole group. So the answer has to be more creative.

The helmet debate notwithstanding, except if said individuals are wearing their helmets like loose-fitting baseball caps. Let said individual(s) know, you would be telling them whatever info, out of concern for them, not from the point of 'how dare you'. But from the point of 'ride safely'. If they are not receptive to the info regardless of how compassionately the info is conveyed, then don't continue trying to get the person(s) to listen.

I'm an LCI. I don't say anything to anybody about their cycling unless in the context of a class and I'm getting paid for it. (I will do some pro bono stuff for cycling advocacy organizations, though).

Yeah. It's also about people insisting they know what's best for everyone else.

You simply lead by example. If must say something, just shake your head and good-naturedly say "dude, you're gonna have a bad day someday doing that ****" and leave it at that. Don't come off a like an anal busy-body.

I sure like to say something to the last several cyclists I've encountered at night, even though they have some really nice bikes, the best of them only had the very minimal of reflective devices, and they all had no forward lighting and with one only having a rear flasher, even that was very anemic.

They seem to have the money for the bike and gear, and I guess that they probably are running dark by design, so I would consider it a waste of breath if I offered some of my older/replaced night lights to them.
