I should add ... the bridge tolls for cars are based on number of axles ... cars typically pay for 2 axles, 5$. Big rigs will pay, uh, a whole lot more. So there already is a size precedent on the bridge tolls.

Ya, I know somebody'll say "Bikes have 2 axles" but it seems to be about the size of the vehicle.

Good points. Maybe we should look at other places where toll fees have been applied to bicycles and pedestrians and what effects they had on usage..

The bridges here in the San Francisco Bay Area actually do pay for themselves. They jacked the tolls up for the bridge users to pay for construction they don't use, and the other motorists that do use it don't have to pay extra for it.

I'd pay it.
Especially if they opened up the west (non-ped) side more often. Currently, it's only open after 3 or something. I don't like scaring tourists and their kids, so it's a leisurely (read: slow) jaunt on the east (ped) side.

But yeah, quit whining and pay it.

In fact, double it if you wear lycra.

heh heh.

You could claim that strollers have to pay for 4 axles, and roller bladers have to pay for 8.

An 8-axle roller blader toll would make the whole thing worthwhile.

Same thing in the bay, we need mussolini running the GG bridge, then things would get done!
