Was going down a hill and some a-hole pulled out of a blind driveway at 1000 miles per hour and i slammed on my brakes and fell over on my side did not hit him but i did fall over..
MY BIKE IS NOT DAMAGED IN ANYWAY!
I did not get hurt but i did get yelled at by the driver.. Because it was "MY FAULT" because "I WAS ON THE SIDEWALK".... He keep emphasizing the word "WALK" in sidewalk as he yelled at me.. Then he demanded I.D from me and wanted to call the police! I asked if he was a cop or something and he said no so i told him to screw and went on my way
Its one of them roads that people park on the sides and there is no bike lane..
Man i am angry...

Casio,
At first, I thought that you were an angry old man. Later, I had the firm impression that you had mental illness. Now I finally see, that you're just young and bored... and that's okay.
So, you've learned a lesson about riding safety, which is that when you ride on a sidewalk, you have to ride with extreme care, give right-of-way and consideration to pedestrians, and must expect cars to be looking for "walking speed" things moving on the sidewalk. Your speed was excessive, considering that the owner of the driveway had a blind line-of-sight (your own words) to you as you approached.
Lesson learned. Move on.
PS: Glad that you're not hurt.

Trying to understand the just of this thread?
Not many bike paths, side walks, around North Carolina, so I do not understand?
What is the difference between a sidewalk and a bike path?
Are there any DMV rules in certain states?
Rode in Germany for 3 months last year and sidewalks/bike paths were pretty much the same thing, shared by both pedestrians and cyclists. Both had the right of way, cars had to stop. The police would turn a blind eye to "Pro bikes" if you were wearing racing gear, otherwise no cyclists allowed on the road.

Definition: Sidewalk: 3-8 foot wide walking path shared by anyone with pedestrians getting top priority over any bikers.
Bike Path or Multi-Use Path: Usually 6-8 foot wide asphalt or concrete where everybody is welcome and everybody is givin the row since its wide enough to stay to the right and not have to move around someone coming forward. Usually this path is not close to the road usually 20 feet off.
MUP: 10-12 foot wide asphalt or concrete everybody welcome and stay to the right like a car on the road.
Bike lane: 3-6 foot wide spacing to the right of the yellow lane line on a road. Usually has markings and direction is in the direction of traffic. Walking or jogging in this lane is usually frowned upon since your so close to traffic with headphones on.....

It is only casio04330 people. Some of his previous posts/threads include a wonderful defense of North Korea's totalitarian pudgy leader and a post where he proudly exclaimed "f the cops."
Nothing to see here, nothing to take seriously, just rantings. Just move on people.
OP: I am glad that you weren't hurt--assuming, of course, that this really happened.

Nah.

The Improbable Bulk
I agree with the motorist, it is a sidewalk.
My issue is usually the inverse. When I ride, my standard response to someone yelling from a car to get on the sidewalk is to yell back, "I am not walking!"
In any state it is legal to ride on the road. A bicycle is considered a vehicle.
In my state, it is illegal to ride on sidewalks in business districts, and possibly other areas by local ordinance.

And thank you...
I dislike SOME police in america because some of them.. Like maybe 2% of them are kind of thugs.. when i said that in that thread it was kind of a knee jerk reaction.. and if you take the time to read my post more down the page you would know that.. But you feel the need to spin doctor about me so whatever. I have meet a lot of nice police in my time but to tell you the truth the 2% of them that are bad make you soo scared of anyone of them you don't know that you just assume any police officer you're going to meet is going to be like them also

Almost hitting a car and getting hurt on the subsequent fall is not funny. BUT writing about it, as you did, with all the drama, hyperbole and uber-font caps is funny.
You are fortunate that you did not hit that car. You are equally fortunate that you did not hit a small child darting on to the sidewalk, as small children are often wont to do.

I wouldn't call a Drama Queen writing style "funny." Ridiculous comes to mind though.Originally Posted by eja_ bottecchia

I will summarize and clarify my earlier message.
If you are riding at faster than a walking pace, stay off of the sidewalk. As with any choice, if you choose to ride on a sidewalk, you are responsible for the consequences.

Yeah.. you're right it was dumb of me to think that car people can think of other people besides themself and should have risked riding in the road

Riding on the sidewalk is unsafe because cars coming out of parking lots and driveways are not looking for fast moving vehicles on the sidewalk. The few near misses I have had and seen have all occurred because of riding on sidewalks.
