mine is built from about 4 pixie frames, steers great, just need to add a couple more cross braces and may add a chain drive steering system, as opposed to the piece of conduit and reflector mounts.
someday I hope to build it up strong enough to be a surfboard bike.

whell i used snowmobile steering ball joints and it extra smooth, you can barely tell the forks arent attached right on the handlebars, i can't get pics though, it is stretched about another length of the bike itself though so it isnt anything too crazy but it still stands out in the bike rack, like, literally.

tall and choppy!
hi, here`s me and my tall bike and chopper, both regular rides.
i use `em, kids use `em and i am damn sure the only tall bike on the island.

This is a great forum.
Here's are the first bikes I built. I started with crank and head tubes that I cut off trash picked kid's bikes.
The black one was my first attempt and I learned a ton building it. The frame is completely built from scratch. The front forks are from a bmx bike that I stretched 4 inches. This bike was really my first attempt and I used the project to learn a lot about making bikes
The silver bike is all polished steel w/clear to keep it from rusting. I made the frame and forks from 5/8" and 1" steel tubing. Everything was bent on a Hossfeld bender and then tig welded together. Although it looks like an old bike, everything is oversized so it fits me (I'm 6' 2"). The bike was built w/out a jig so everthing was done by eye. I think it came out pretty good. I still need to finish the end of the tubes that make up the forks and part of the frame.
My current project is a much more radical chopper. This one is going to have a 8 speed Sturmey Archer rear hub and be very low.
I'm starting to pick this stuff up but can see I have a ways to go before I'm close to some of the incredible bikes I see on this board.

Getting it from a local bike shop in Newton, Massachusetts. I'm planning on swinging down there next week to see it in person before I make the final commitment. It is kind of pricey but this is one of the few parts I'd end up buying.
Sturmey Archer made a lot of the old internal 3 speed hubs and now have a relatively new 8 speed internal hub. I have some of their 3 speed hubs for future projects but the nice thing about the 8 speed is it doesn't have the chain coming out of the axle and it supports disc brakes. All the hardware (cables, axle nuts, etc...) on this bike is going to hidden.
I'd post pics of my current bike but right now it is nothing but a bunch of half bent tubing and paper plans. My goal is to be on the road w/it in the Spring.

It all started with the idea of a homebuilt recumbent. I got online and started googling home bike projects and ran across the CHUNK guys,
So I got sidetracked and made this
