It's all adjusting to the temperature drop. Give me a break, it was 80ºF here a few days ago. I ride all winter you pansies. Down to 15ºF. But my toes are also still cold from this AM's ride. And of course getting dressed to ride was like suiting up for a friggin space walk.

incorrect.
complaining about the cold when you dont ride in the cold is for wussies. this barely makes a blimp on the wussiness chart.
later.

If you don't like the weather where you live, then move somewhere else. This is a free country. You have to make your own priorities.

Pfff! It was in the high 30s in NYC this AM at 5:40 when I hit the road. No trouble at all. 10 deg less would be no big deal. In short, 404 Zen Not Found in this thread.

It always takes me a few uncomfortable rides to get the clothes dialed in. Rode the commute in this morning, mid 40s, and my fingers were cold with regular cycling gloves. My body still thinks it's 75 out. It takes time.

I know were not even into it yet, but the cooler weather just blows....Or maybe it's just the wind...All I know is that as the temps drop here in Southern Ontario the wind starts to blow. So not only do you have to deal with temps in the 30's (Fahrenheit for the you Americans), but you have to deal with winds in the low 20mph range. It all adds up to less then desirable riding conditions....Yes I am complaining! I truly do not like winter at all...To make matters worse you have to plan out every ride so that you give yourself enough time to put on your countless layers of clothing...Then on the bike you feel like a stiff board since your movements are restricted...
Of course come spring time I'll riding in these same conditions and just loving it because I know that just around the corner is summer and some nice hot weather....All I have to look forward to now is more cold, ice, some slush and maybe a bit of snow...
Geez I really gotta hit the lotto so I can winter in the south...

By January, the 30's will feel balmy. It's all relative after you've endured Orange County Black Dirt Country -60ºF wind chill. Oddly, the worst conditions are 40º and rainy/humid. That's usually worse than 20º and partly cloudy/windy.

You took the words out of my hands Then again, I am in sunny south FL with temps in the frigid mid 70's in the AM and mid 80's during the day.

Find more hills to ride; I stop riding anything flat when it gets cold. Rolling hills are the best. After riding in 21F weather, I look forward to the warm shower afterward. Although I must admit, it's time to switch from knee warmers to tights.

The up hills are OK. It's the 1+ mile -100ºF windchill of death downhill out of here in the AM that's hard to take. The black ice and unguided missle deer make up for it by keeping things interesting.

re: cold toes -- I tried using some sandwhich bags over my toes underneath my shoes a few rides back on a cold(ish) day. It made a noteworthy difference in the overall comfiness of my otherwise cold toes. Not only do they help block the wind a bit, but they also help hold in some warmth. Throw some thick neoprene booties over the shoes and I think I may have just found my solution for cold weather riding.

I have these, they work in snow and are wind-proof.

Three points:
1) w/o winter approaching, we wouldn't get to the end of the year: No store-wide inventory liquidations and no new lineups
2) If GWB hadn't fiddled with DST, we early commuters would be cycling in light rather than pure darkness.
3) +1 to the comments making the point that winter hasn't started yet.
