Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Uh . . . ?

Do you mean tubeless, or like those solid rubber tires that look unreasonably heavy?

Let's not get nasty. Yeah, I mean an airless tire, like they make for road bikes, not like a wooden tire that they made for covered wagons in the 1800's. Here's an example of one: https://www.bikemania.biz/ProductDeta...de=NU_Road1922. I didn't know if any cyclocross riders ever used these things.

Sorry to offend, but if you raced cross you'd know why the idea is silly. It's not uncommon to run extremely low tire pressures, and it's hard to imagine an air-free tire performing similarly. Maybe it could be made to ride like a road clincher at 110 PSI, but not a cyclocross tubular or even clincher at 35.

the company you linked to (nu-teck) claims to make versions in 28mm and 35mm widths. they also weigh 680 and 690 grams(!) each, respectively. that's about twice the weight of a regular cross tire, so they're really not very well suited for cross racing.

i could see them being good for an around town cruiser, maybe a commuter or a polo bike. or even a light trail bike perhaps.

When I was younger, my dad got tired of fixing the flats in my Huffy MTB, so he bought an "airless" tube to put in. I remember that it was a.) incredibly tough to mount and b.) incredibly heavy.

The benefits of an airless tire do not outweigh the costs. If you are really really concerned about flats, get some Mr Tuffy's or add Stans to your tube. Even better, learn to fix a flat quickly and easily. It's essential bike maintenance.
