Cycling in Jakarta ?
Hi everyone,
Im MTB and Rodies rider living in Shanghai.
I'm probably moving to Jakarta in this September.
I could easily find local cycling information when I moved to Sydney,
Singapore and here in Shanghai through internet, but cann't find any
for Jakarta so far.
Anybody here from Jakarta or knows well about cycling down there?
I guess there should be many trails for MTB, but no idea for Roadies.

Kenji

Thanks pp,
I feel better to know there is at least MTB riders in the city.
It means there must be some professional bike shops to get
local info. Does anybody know bike shop info in Jakarta?

hi, I live in bogor, 50km south of jakarta.
have no worries!
in indonesia, I believe there are more mtb's than roadbikes.
professional workshops are plenty.
parts shops have the most expensive items you can imagine.
and trails?
hmmm. never worry.
just come to indonesia and contact me at tkwardhana@yahoo.com
and I'll refer you to the experts.
(by the way, I am not a mountainbiker, I just commute on asphalt, on my hybridbike)

probably not as much as shanghai
and we don't have a special lane for bicycle..
but there's several community in Jakarta
1. 'Bike to Work' community
2. www.sepedaku.com - Indonesia bike forum
3. id-foldingbike@yahoogroups.com - Indonesia folding bike yahoogroups
all of them are in Bahasa Indonesia but I'm sure plenty of them can speak english as well

hello there kenji and all. i'm not in jakarta but in bandung.
as redstarcap mentioned, you could visit the sepedaku.com site.
there are many people using road/mtb/folding in the city, but it seems that the fixed gear scene is more active on the city.
you could visit bikeshops like RodaLink, but there are many LBS too. not like any in japan though. but i think RodaLink will suffice.
if you need any assistance, i can get you in touch with the people there.
and i think uncle Tedi will help you too.
cheers.
