Schleck........what a stage. Just feckin awesome. Insane ride by him and Cunego, huge amounts of courage from the Frenchies, too, and Chicken comes out of nowhere for a top 10!
On a more 'gearhead' note, I can't remember seeing any Lightweight wheels during this stage. The big brands must have closed the sponsorship gates. |

best TDF stage in 10 years I reckon.....& there's still 2 more days in the alps!!! |
Menchov and Dessel were pulling some faces and yo-yoing too. Awesome gutsy stuff. Excellent stage. Shame Evans couldn't quite mix it.

Periero didn't do too badly, only lost MJ by 10 seconds, if he can hang
tomorrow I think we can see a top 5 finish for him (provided he doesn't blow in TT). Trikes? reportedly very difficult to ride, countersteering and counter intuitive and very easy to dump over. I particulary like this one: http://handmadebicycleshow.com/GALLE...rid%230190.jpg The pog repaint was $300 with one bit of tube repair and two tone paint. I provided my own decals. Marty |

Hey! Lay off big Tom ya bastids - he's got a cute smile.
Now he's dropped out it's enough to make a girl lose all interest in the TdF. :p Brilliant stage though. We actually managed to stay up till the end last night. |
What, Floyd doesn't float your boat Matagi?
What a perfect stage to stay up and watch live instead of watching the last two hours replay at 6am. I am just totally jealous of one of my colleagues who is staying in the village at the base of l'Alp d'Huez this week. Can you believe tomorrow's stage, Col du Galibier, 42km of 4.5% climbing. I think the longest climb I have ridden is the Kopu Hikuai hill, 14km from sea level to 425m. It'll be another late one I think. |
should be great again tonight, as much as I want Cadel to pick up his game, Landis looks like keeping yellow.

With his TT, I would say so. Lots in the top ten close enough to reckon they could podium, IMO. Fellas....help me out. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=211987 |

Longest climb for me has been Mt Donna Buang 16.8kms and a total rise of 1080m which is about 6.4% av gradient (according to cycle2max webiste). Bluddy hard work:eek: |

Saw a Sun Tour stage in late 80's where it snowed at Donna Buang. Incredibly some riders finished with icicles hanging from their hair. Pom Cayn Theakson won. Good rider, rode for Portugese teams and Fagor. Nice bloke too. The old man yapped to him for about 10 minutes in the sub zero temps!
Also saw the awesome sight of Sid Patterson sinking pots in the Warburton pub. Truely frightening stuff |

No snow on the ground the couple of times I've done it. I'm keen to have another crack when the weather warms up a bit. Previously I've only had a 21 as the largest cog on the back and now I have the luxury of a 23 and even got a 25 in the shed that I might get around to putting on by the time the weather improves....
Speaking of the Sun Tour anyone seen the route for this year? ITT on the Kew boulevard. Might have to slip out of the office and head down and have a look at that one. Be great if they re-surface the road for it. |

nice bike if you're gnome sized

Fark that!
Guys, you're not going to believe this, but I can get the 2007 Campy Ultra-Torque groupsets RIGHT NOW. If anyone still doubts the power of the internet, they're got rocks in their head. This is awesome! |
The hardest climb I've done is much shorter though, 300m in about 4km or so, some of it well over 10%. And this year it's in the last 20km of a 200km ride, with the aforementioned 14km climb half way through.
