HA! :) I heard that.
I think he called in with another name -- Jose, or something?

ya know, I've gotta admit, the whole idea of being a HUGE fan of bike racing escapes me. I mean, i really like it, but surely cycling is more about the 'doing' than the 'watching'. I rode up near the Comm Games road race, and was bored crapless after 10 mins.

When I got back into racing in 1992 (for about 5 mins:)), I tried and tried to get into it by reading the Euro race reports in Winning, but it bored me senseless. Maybe if we had more live coverage of other Euro races I'd be into it. Even though I keep weird hours I can't watch the whole 3 hrs of the Tour coverage.

still like me? :D

We have no more time for his games. Someone please email him and let him know. The next step is an IP ban.

531Aussie 01-15-07 09:58 PM

I missed the goss.
What happened?

:)

Or maybe just a few things like good commentary/input from the commentators on what is shown on the telly. Like instant replays of attacks, not showing the lead bunch constantly if there is somebody trying to get across the gap or reel them in. Wiring up some of the racers for commentary and or cameras a la V8 supercars. Team tactics coming through from their radios. Rider profiles, really good tech spots (how this works etc), even some tactical teaching would be good, so long as they got someone who wasn't a pelican to do it.

In other words, make it a faster and more engaging sport to watch, and sooner or later joe public will see just how hard arse these blokes are. Kind of like one dayers getting people back into test matches.

Anyway, that's my uneducated (in sport broadcasting at least) opinion. ymmv, my $0.02 etc etc...

Ah man... Its a shame that he didn't recognise the line between fun and stupid sometimes.

Brian 01-15-07 10:04 PM

Let's just leave it at behaviour that is not acceptable on the forums.

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

I reckon you've just about covered it. That David Grashier or whatever isn't bad IMO. He does have a bit of a droning voice though

It really reminds me of motor racing. Why watch Bathurst for hours? Tactics, to see who breaks down, for the crashes...
Cross would be easier to watch i reckon, or at least a RR that was on a reasonable circuit.

Ok, what did he do? I'd file him under the heading of "mostly harmless" but clearly the natives can't handle his quirky little ways.

And it looks like i broke the forum.

You'd better start quoting Shakespeare or Oscar Wilde so we can encourage a more cerebal and higher class of poster, just like me!:D

Drink, sir, is a great provoker of three things.

What three things does drink especially provoke?

Marry, sir, nose-painting, sleep, and urine. Lechery, sir, it provokes, and unprovokes; it provokes the desire, but it takes away the performance.

So very true.
