I need 8 months to loose 30kg. I'll have to put in for long service leave. Even then I'll have to do the first turn.

I'll be damned. Did you actually ride it? (even if it was just up the road). Those Scapins are classy looking beasts. Them and the Baums were the best things at the bike show IMO

Clements? La di da :p
are the sidewalls dried up and cracking? |

I put the 4th fork on my BMC today: a Columbus Carve!
Still not stiff enough, but I'm sick of changing them! :p |

I need to sort out this joining a club thing. Ive been looking at all of the main clubs in Melb. All of them are basically out of my way. What im mainly interested in is joining the club with the most amount of people who could help me develop as a cyclist in a serious manner. Im also interested in the club that takes itself as serious as possible in every aspect including running extra training camps etc and has a good social scene too. Oh and the club kit has to look good too.
Right now Im leaning towards SKCC. I wouldnt race in their crits much as they are in Port Melb. I'd just turn up and race at Mulgrave or Sandown or Casey. I can do that right as long as I hold an open licence? I know I have raised this issue previously but any advice would be great :) |
One thing to consider (particularly in winter RR season) is that there are two different "Combines' of clubs that run races, & as decreed by Cyclesport Victoria you are supposed to be a member of a club within the combine (or an "invited" club) to do their races, unless you hold a letter of exemption signed by the club saying you can race outside your patch etc etc....
St Kilda is a member of Northern Combine along with Brunswick, Coburg, Hawthorn, Sunbury & a few others Carnegie-Caulfield, Blackburn, Chelsea & mornington are Southern Combine (the crit venues you mention are all run by Southern Combine Clubs) Glenvale Cres is known for the biggest & fastets crits in town. This is where any "names" usually turn up if they want to race while in town. |
