Thoughts on upgrades?
To make a long story short, went in for a part ended up with a bike. Freebie no less. I picked it up for the rear wheel for another project, and am considering doing a "build" now. Yes she's low end, and yes she's ugly. But she is mine.

Thoughts:
Add a claw rear mech, geared rear wheel (most likely freehub/cassette since I have one floating around)
Convert Ashtabula to a modern square taper (I have a kit that's been collecting dust for just this)
Maybe change bars? I've got some bmx apes.. traditional risers, straight bars etc..
Definitely change saddle.. to what though I don't know. An origin 8 classic is probably wayyyyy too narrow right guys?
Tire sidewalls are shot, since this is a freebie and I'm not spending money on the other bits cheap cheap cheap preferred, so if anyone has experience with good super cheap tires please speak up.
Also a brakeset would probably be a great idea..
What do you guys think? And did I miss anything?

is the frame aluminum? kinda looks like it. i've been playing poor mans weight weenie with an aluminum bike that looks similar. if it gets gears maybe an internal gear three speed with a coaster brake. anyway, that's my upgrade idea if it is. whatever you stumble across cheap to see how light of a low cost bike you can make.

Order a pair of Michelin Proteks, 26x1.85. I put a 27" set on a late-'72 Schwinn Super Sport I restored for a friend, and thought they were fantastic. When I noticed I could get them in a size close to what I had for my cruisers, I ordered 'em for my Electra. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Before, it was like riding on mush, but now it rides smoothly AND handles much more crisply. Reasonably priced, too -- Niagara has 'em for $19.19 + shipping, Worldwide $23.99 with free shipping, which makes it just about a wash.
I've ordered a second set so both cruisers will have them.
