What does your cruiser weigh?
Or better what does your cruiser weigh and how do you weigh it? I have a very good set of bathroom scales but they continuously weigh a pound less then the balance scales at the Hospital so differences should be consistent. Also, I was told that smaller weights might not be accurate so I weigh myself, with and without, the bike. Bike as depicted is without fenders or front reflector but with a bungi cord on the rack and, at the moment, one of those silly computers. It comes up 176.2 for me (after cornflakes) and 213.4 me holding the bike. So I'm saying it weighs 37.2 pounds. How do you guys do it and what do you get?

I weighed my Electra Cruiser One in the same fashion as you did, as it was a bit unwieldy to lift using my Feedback digital scale.
I was surprised to learn it weighed 42 lbs. Seemed a bit heavy.

I don't fat shame my bikes.

I would think that most people just have a bathroom scale at their disposal so weighing oneself while holding the bike and then without and subtracting the latter from the former would be the most common method. I'm not curious enough to know what my bikes weigh because then I'd have to know what I do.

The specs on both my huffys are
cranbrook = 43lbs
Classic Deluxe = 47lbs.
I know the shipping weight of the classic was 49lbs. that was on the tag.
I would say they are close give or take....what the mfgs listed weights are. I have not however weighed a bike...

You might not have to. I know that yours has Huffy on it and mine has Schwinn but I'm betting that both came out of the same Chinese factory and if they were outfitted alike I'm willing to bet they would pretty much weigh the same.

Ill tell you what weighs a lot on my bike is the front basket. The thing is metal and really adds weight. I think I have an old wicker basket or two somewhere and might give it a try....I bet that thing alone weighs close to 4lbs...

So far you would rhenning. However, my initial post was, after hearing many post about bikes ending with how much they weighed, I was curious as to HOW they weighed them. Especially since most scales are fairly inaccurate at the lower weights. I was really expecting to be told that was not the way to do it but now I quess it's as good as any.

Bike and myself on bathroom scale minus me alone on scale. Accurate enough method for a beach cruiser.
Both are just a hair under 30lbs each.

That's true but those things can be very handy. I came very close to buying one at a Bike Shop about a month ago. It was very heavy but you could take it off when you didn't need it and it sure would be handy when you needed to haul something. I added extra weight to mine when I bought it because I wanted the rear rack but it sure comes in handy for me. Extra weight for something you want is fine.

I actually am looking for a wicker basket for the front. I am going to weigh this basket and see what it weights. With the stabilizer bars its gotta weigh 3lbs.
You are right though they do hold a good full bottle of wine lol

It is a Schwinn Heavy Duti. I didn't do much besides strip it down. I removed the fenders and the chain guard. No baskets, no racks, no front brake. I put an aluminum chain ring on it, but it still has the steel crank. I installed fairly light aluminum pedals too. It could be lighter if I replaced the Brooks saddle, the steel handlebars, and the really heavy tires.

Chinese I believe. Late '90s. In the early years of Schwinn closing down and selling their name, quality control was still good. The bike is straight as am arrow and the welds are good. As the years rolled by the name was bought and sold a few more times and the new stuff can be iffy. The Schwinns at LBS are still OK for the price, and the Heavy Duti is still made. Look up the Summit Industrial Workhorse. I believe it is the exact same bike with different branding. It can be had for less money.

Nirve 7 Beach Cruiser - Stock weight was 39 lbs, right now at 34 lbs, using a Park DS-1.
changes so far:
removed chain guard and all reflectors
tires: Maxxis Crossmark knobby
handlebar: 2 inch riser alloy MTB style, stock bars almost 2 lbs, replacements 1/3 the weight
seat and post: alloy seatpost w/ MTB style seat. stock seat and post 3 lbs
pedals - Nashbar MTB style
compared to a mountain bike, amazing how heavy some of the components are, but at the same time is pretty easy and
inexpensive to reduce the weight.

Bike is a svelte 30 pounds
My bike, a black Kent LaJolla, has an aluminum frame and weighs 30 pounds. On our bathroom scale, I weighed the bike and me, then just me. 30 feels light, and it gives a good smooth ride with 26x2.125 tires inflated to 50 psi. I love it.

Bikes: Pinarello Prince that's cracked at the bb weld
27.2 lbs
Bildabike Brewster, aluminum frame with all rattle parts removed per SquidP's advice.
I'm thinking of a "how light can it be made" buildout on an old aluminum frame i just picked up last weekend. Spend ~$500 on a $20 bike, 😂.
