Picked up my Roll today

.
Picked this one up around lunchtime. Spent the afternoon installing a few extras and adjusting everything including the rear brake that was scrubbing. I’d wondered why it was harder to peddle than I thought it should be .
My faith in this bike shop went down a notch, especially when I went to swap out the pedals and found them dry .
Specialized calls the Roll a Comfort bike , IMO , that’s another word for Cruiser .
The tires are every bit as big as the 2.5” Maxxis Hookworms I own , maybe bigger . I know they’re taller .
I wound up with a Brooks B67 on it , mainly because of the upright riding position of this bike . Added a Cateye bike computer and some platform pedals . A bottle cage and a rack .
I spent at least two hours searching my garage for a long enough bolt to attach a kickstand on it . It’s a good thing I used to buy yard sale bikes just for their parts . I thought the Roll came with one and I didn’t notice it didn’t have one until I was in the parking lot loading it on the bike rack . And the neighborhood wasn’t the kind where I would go back inside and leave my new bike unattended without a strong lock I didn’t have with me .
Its been sprinkling off and on all afternoon. I did do a short ride around a mile all together just to get a feel for the bike .
I think it’s going to be be a good Cruiser for the MUP’s around here . The seven speeds will help with some of the hills .

The rain held off enough this morning I was able to get in a ride .
I rode my new Specialized Roll this morning. I think I’m going to like it . Even with the bigger , wider , 650bx2.3” tires ,( they look bigger) it coasts and peddles as easy as my old Specialized Hardrock with 26X1.9” tires .
With the B67 after about a mile , I was wondering if I’d made a mistake, but around the three mile mark , I got “broke in” and the saddle felt pretty good . With the Roll , it’s easier to shift my weight on the saddle and ride light with my weight on one foot .
It’s a keeper !

Just three . So far LOL !
First , a new Cruiser 1 , then the Roll , and on order , an Electra 7d Lux Fat Tire .
I recently sold my 1987 Mustang GT Convertable . Collecting bikes is way cheaper than collecting cars . .
anyways, the Roll will be my exercise, long distance MUP bike . The Cruisers are for cruising the neighborhood.

I'm not one to talk either. I've been bike crazy this summer too.
I bought a Trek Verve + Ebike, and ended up returning it to the Trek Store. I then upped the ante and bought a Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 This is my commuter.
I bought a used Electra Cruiser (before the label of "Cruiser1") and bought fenders for it.
I then bought a Firmstrong stretch cruiser
and finally, I bought a Raleigh Special 3 (3 speed cruiser) from Amazon for $175. (I couldn't resist!)
I actually have the Electra posted for sale, but I may need to wait until next May-June to sell it. I'm very partial to this new Raleigh.
Let's not forget that I also bought an old Univega tandem 24 speed, and bought new V brakes, shifters, cables, tires and handlebars. My wife wanted it too, but now she hates riding behind me.

The whole cruiser craze started when I found a mint condition Electra Super Deluxe 3i for my wife for dirt cheap. I needed a counterpart. it took 3 cruisers to do that LOL

I was really surprised how easy the 650bx2.3” tires roll on the Roll bike . And they look huge .
I’m hoping the 3.5” tires on theElectra fat tire bike roll just as easy .
I put the Maxxis Hookworms on my black C1 today . These are growing on me. The Roll smooth and are the quietest rolling tires I’ve ever ridden.

Restless,
Is that the one on CL for $125? If I didn't already have an Electra, I would give you a call. Nice bike....

Kirby999, I really really like this one. I love the look of a normal, I guess you call it a "diamond" type frame but has cruiser positioning. Out of all the bikes I've been seeing lately, if I were ever to want to spend a good amount of money on a bike, this would be the one. Thanks for the inspiration!

That’s why I went for it . No front or rear suspension. Upright riding position. And balloon tires . What’s not to love about the Roll and you can get it in whatever upgrades you want , although the 1X7 with rim brakes suits me just fine .
