Patch Inside Tire Damaging Tube

I used a regular inner tube patch as a boot on the inside of my tire to cover a small hole in the tire which in time might cause me problems. Yesterday I had a flat on my inner tube and it was right where the inner tube patch had been applied to the inside of the tire. Where the tire patch was contacting the inner tube was cracked almost like dry rotted or something. I guess the patch reacted with the tube. Is it possible the outside of the patch deteriorated the inner tube? The type of patch was black with the orange band around the outside of it.

Maybe if you left the foil on the patch.

No, didn't leave the foil on the patch. I did leave the clear plastic which is on the top of the patch on.

You describe a REMA patch.
I can't imagine that causing a problem.
How big is the hole?
Maybe you have a flexing issue in that spot?

Tube patches don't work on tires..

Try Duct Tape on the tire.
