Are 29" MTB tires the same size as 700c?

Does anybody know if 700x32 road bike tires fit a 29" MTB? My 29er is ready for new tires and I have an unused set kicking around.

Thanks

The rim sizes are the same.

Most new rims are relatively narrow, and should accept a 32mm tire.

The outer circumference of the 32mm tires will be smaller than your 29er tires.

Same size, just wider than road bike rims.

Check your rim size here just to be sure:
Tire Dimensions | Schwalbe North America

Somewhere on your rim should be a sticker that says something like "622xNN" with NN being your rim width.

Yes, the road tires will fit on your rim.

They will lower the bike about 1", because they're about half the width of the 2" tires your 29er was designed for.

This will make the bottom bracket (cranks) lower, but shouldn't be an issue because MTBs usually have high bottom brackets to begin with.

This will also change your steering geometry somewhat. It shouldn't be enough of a difference to be unsafe, but it may steer a bit funny.

Give it a try and report back!
