bb bracket/pedal wobbles..can't be repaired for a week.

Was cleaning up my tourring bike...Noticed play in the pedals..The pedals move in towards the direction of the frame..I understand the sealed bearings need be replaced...Part not available for a week at my LBS...
Do bearings shatter quick like...What would happen if they did.. Think you would take that bike on a 60 mile ride for some errand I had planned on doing Monday..

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

I wouldn't bet on a bicycle in that condition going 60 miles uneventfully.

The play in the pedal is very slight...Only a couple degrees...How much play you have make any difference?

Can you tell for sure exactly where it's coming from? If it's the pedals I'd be more likely to take a chance. If it's the bottom bracket, a little bit of wobble just means that it's shot and it's going to get a lot worse. Either way, it isn't going to fix itself, it's only going to get progressively worse.

I've done a bit of technical support on some big organized rides. Flat tires are by far the biggest thing to deal with. Broken spokes are the most common of the real wrenching stuff. Bottom bracket problems are the other biggie that I remember so it happens.

The pedals are not shifting...It must be the result of the axle shifting within the bike frame allowing the pedals to seem to move in and out in the direction from the frame..just a very slight wobble...in comparsion to my other bikes..the axle seems rock solid...no movement.
