Revo 3 Speed Friction Shift takes multiple clicks ?

Is that OK ?

I am an ULTRA NEWBIE so any help appreciated.

Just got my bike delivered, assembled it, and at 1st I could not get the front derailleur to shift the chain onto all three sprockets.

I took it for a ride and could only shift thru the 1st 7 low gears.

After some night time adjustments in the garage, I can now get it to shift smoothly onto all three sprockets, but it takes more than a single click per gear ( or should I be saying per sprocket) ?

Will take it out for a 2nd ride tmro and see how it feels.

My question for now, is it ok if the Friction Shift clicks a couple times before the chain moves to the next sprocket or should it be changing on each click ?

Thanks.....and please excuse the newbie terms and question.

Been a LONG time since I had a bike. Just getting back into it.

(fwiw - the Rear Derailleur seems to shift through all 7 gears very smoothly on one click per gear)

Many left-hand twist shifters have numerous clicks instead of just one per chainring. This is actually a handy feature since it allows one to "trim" the front derailleur position and eliminate chain rub, and eliminates sometimes-finicky front derailleur indexing adjustment.

I'm hoping that's correct -- that the newer Shimano RevoShift left/front grip twister now has multiple clicks. The old styles were either friction only or three click stops. I was on the verge of replacing the left RevoShift with an SRAM Microshift specifically for the option to tune out front derailer rub on the fly. It's pretty much impossible to completely tune out chain rub on these entry level front derailers, so the microshift types would be handy.

Do you have a part number for your RevoShift? I'd like to check to be sure before I order a replacement.

Sram and Microshift are not related.

What's the name of the SRAM grip shifter with multiple click positions? I had it on my Amazon list several months ago but it's no longer listed, possibly unavailable.

MRX, Attack, X-Rays all had versions with 9-click left shifters.

They're the ones with "friction" in the description in some places, for instance if you scroll to the bottom of this page, the "Friction" version has 9 clicks and the "Indexed" just has two clicks.

IF it shifts each click, it's INDEXED shifting, not friction.

No part# that I know of, but I will be adjusting the handlebars tmro, so will take a look and see if a model # exists on them and post it here....
