Need a Crankset-Single Ring
Currently waiting for the Rohloff rear wheel for my wife's touring bike. Currently it is set up with a Shimano Deore triple Hollow Tech II. I could probably use this crank with only 1 ring. But I would like to explore what some of you might suggest.

Kind of open ended question. What tooth count do you want? What's the chain tensioning method? Andy

A 4 bolt ring with a 104mm bolt circle will mount up to a Deore crank. You just need to determine what tooth count you want for the desired ratio.
Rohloff hubs have a 54mm chain line, so you pretty much have to mount the ring in the outside position, or swap spacers behind the bearing cups to move the center position out if you want to use the inner position to accommodate a bash ring. This would get you within a mm or two of correct chain line.

The chain tension is handled by the horizontal dropouts. As for tooth count low 40's to mid 30's.
Actually think the chain line is now 56-57 because Rohloff changed the way the sprocket is attached.

Looks like most Hollowtech II cranks have a 55-56 mm chainline in the outer position. If you have a 68 mm BB shell you could replace the non-drive side BB shim with a 1mm shim on both sides and be pretty close. Any 104 BCD single speed chainring would work fine in the outside position.

Chain line On Rohloff is generally lined up with the Outer of a triple.. (RTFM) now 58mm (add spacers to move the chainring further outboard)
The larger hub cogs of the new Snap ring fitted Scheme, are such to get the gearing ratio set low enough
To continue using the original Outer chainring . like say a 46..
Stock is a 16 t .. other sizes extra ..
like a 3 speed the snap ring makes the cog replacement easy, just need a flat bladed screw driver_
cogs are unique to Rohloff, 13 spline, 1 spline per tooth of the smallest cog.
I have a 26" wheel bike Its Gearing is 16:38*.. The BB a Shimano UN type 127.5, (it's their longest one. )
cranks were Stronglight Mygal, 39t + a chainguard outer,
Now I use an M730 XT crank, Chain ring in middle, Chainguard disc Outer..
56 is the original Machined flip over able cog , 15,16, 17t ... SJS has a custom made 19t..
58 was the 13t [it had to be a little further out, to have chain clear the right end Oil seal]
* I have a 16:53 on my 20" wheel Bike Friday.

Well I took time to measure the chainline on the bike as it stands. I should, with small spacer, be able to use the current triple. I will remove the middle and small ring. And after checking Sheldon Brown's site it appears that using the 44t front and 16t rear will be a good starting point. May change out the chainring after my wife tries it out.
