Going to use Dura Ace BR-7900 brakes with aero levers

I've been busy looking for buys on eBay & purchased a new set of Dura Ace BR-7900 brake calipers. I am building up an old Masi Gran Criterium & going to build up a 10 Speed compact Shimano Drivetrain. I don't really like the looks of the 7900 brifters so I may buy Gevenalle cyclocross brake levers with 7900 down tube levers mounted on them. I suspect that the shifters should shift fine, just not sure how the (Tektro) aero brake levers will play with the 7900 brake calipers.
Anybody use these with anything but the correct brake levers?

I think the 7900 were the first with the new pull ratio. They are not supposed to work well with the older pull levers such as the Gevenalle. Calipers from the pre shifter cable-under-bar tape groups should work. Mushy brakes is what you would get.

If you already have the 7900 shift levers you could buy Gevenalle "Eurodax" levers with no shift levers. They pull more cable than the "Audax" levers and should work.

That might work. Don't know how V brake pull compares to "new" Shimano pull but maybe OP will let us know if he tries it.

Well I think I'll be obligated now to order a set of the Eurodax levers & complete this build!

Based on my measurements of V-brake levers and standard levers and the data reported here by others, it seems the new Shimano cable pull requirement is about half way between V-brakes and caliper brakes. Those Eurodax levers will pull slightly more cable than the Shimano brakes require and need slightly more hand effort for a given stop.
